Qatar Airways Group Achieves Record-Breaking Profits in FY 24/25, Driven by Cargo Growth and Strategic Investments
Doha, Qatar – Qatar Airways Group has announced the most robust financial results in its history for the 2024/25 fiscal year, with profits soaring to QAR 7.85 billion (US$ 2.15 billion). This marks an impressive increase of over QAR 1.7 billion (US$ 0.5 billion) compared to the previous year, representing a remarkable 28% surge in profit.
The Group's stellar performance is significantly bolstered by Qatar Airways Cargo, the world’s leading cargo carrier, which recorded a 17% growth in revenue. The cargo division achieved its best financial results since the COVID period, attributed to its agile adaptation to market shifts, strategic investments in digitalization, data-driven analysis, and industry-leading reliability.
Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, credited these record-breaking achievements to the dedication of the Group's more than 55,000 employees worldwide. He highlighted the focus on fostering talent as a core component of their Qatar Airways 2.0 strategy and emphasized the success of strategic partnerships in maintaining agility amidst global political, economic, and environmental shifts. He also underlined the commitment to delivering exceptional in-flight service, including the award-winning Qsuite, fine dining, and complimentary Starlink internet connectivity.
Key achievements for the Group in the last fiscal year include the expansion of Hamad International Airport to accommodate 65 million passengers annually, becoming the first global and MENA region airline to install Starlink super-fast Wi-Fi on its Boeing 777 fleet, acquiring a 25% minority stake in Virgin Australia and a 25% stake in South African regional airline Airlink, and introducing conversational AI into its digital cabin crew, Sama. The Group also signed various technical MoUs for future-proofing and diversifying the business, aligning with the Qatar National Vision 2030. Looking ahead, recent historic aircraft and engine orders reaffirm Qatar Airways' commitment to maintaining a modern and technologically advanced fleet.
