Electra Secures $115 Million to Advance Ultra-Short Takeoff Aircraft
Electra.aero has raised $115 million in funding to build and certify its innovative EL9 aircraft. This unique 9-passenger plane needs only 150 feet to take off and land – much less space than regular airplanes. The EL9 uses a combination of electric and traditional power, allowing it to operate like a helicopter (vertical takeoff/landing), fly quietly like an electric vehicle, and offer the cost-effectiveness and safety of a regular airplane. This opens up possibilities for connecting remote areas, using airports with noise limits, and new cargo services. The EL9 has already received over 2,200 pre-orders worth over $10 billion and is also being developed for military applications.
